Installation Guide for Indivd Complete

This guide provides detailed instructions on how to easily and effectively install surveillance cameras for Indivd Compete within a location.

1. Cameras and Hardware

Delivery

  • The hardware is sent either directly to the customer or the installer.

Contents of the Package

Depending on what solution the customer has chosen, as specified in your order, you will receive the following hardware to work with:

  1. Connection with Mobile Router with SIM
    • Cameras with junction boxes.
    • PoE switch
    • Pre-configured Teltonika router including power cable and short network cable
    • SIM card

  2. Connection with Mobile Router to Existing Internet
    • Cameras with junction boxes.
    • PoE switch
    • Pre-configured Teltonika router including power cable and short network cable

  3. Connection to Existing Router
    • Cameras with junction boxes.
    • PoE switch

2. Placement of the Cameras

For optimal performance, please adhere to the following guidelines:

Distance and Angle

  • Avoid Obstructions: Ensure the camera's field of view is not blocked by shelves, pillars, lighting fixtures, drapes, signs, or other objects.
  • Optimal Angle: Position the camera at an angle between 20 and 60 degrees.
  • Minimum Distance from Measurement Line: Should be at least 80% of the ceiling height away from the measurement line (e.g., 2 meters for a ceiling height of 2.5 meters).
  • Avoid Low Angles: Angles below 30 degrees or horizontal placements can cause individuals to obscure each other, affecting data accuracy.

Important Note on Field of View Obstructions

While the 3D drawing accounts for known obstacles, there may be additional obstacles in the field of view that were not taken into account, such as:

  • Lighting fixtures
  • Pillars
  • Drapes or curtains
  • Signs or banners
  • Hanging decorations

Installer's Responsibility:

  • Inspect the Installation Area: Before mounting the camera, carefully inspect the designated location for any obstacles that might block or interfere with the camera's field of view.

  • Ensure a Clear View: Adjust the camera placement if necessary to avoid obstructions. This might involve:
    • Moving the camera slightly to the side or front.
    • Changing the mounting position to avoid obstacles.

  • Use Additional Mounting Solutions: If obstacles cannot be avoided by repositioning:
    • Consider using a camera mount or pole to lower the camera from the ceiling to achieve the desired angle and field of view.
    • Ensure that any additional mounting hardware is securely installed and complies with safety standards.
    • Consult with On-Site Personnel or contact Indivd: Ask the staff if there are any temporary obstacles (e.g., seasonal decorations) that might affect the camera's view at different times.

3. 3D Drawing for Camera Installation

You have received a 3D drawing showing the exact location and specifications for each camera. This drawing has been developed and approved in collaboration with the customer and takes into account:

  • Ceiling height
  • Room size
  • Walls and obstacles
  • Field of view
  • Coverage area
  • Camera angle and resolution
  • Measurement lines
  • Camera specifications (resolution, focal length, sensor size, pixel density of visitors)

It is crucial to follow the 3D drawing exactly to ensure reliable data collection.

Components of the 3D Drawing

  • Site Plan
    • Overview Image: Displays the entire premises with all camera locations. The numbering is for overview and does not need to be followed during installation.

  • Camera Pages
    • Top View: Shows the exact location and perspective for each camera.

  •  
    • Field of View: Illustrates what the camera should capture when installed.

  • Total Overview
    • A summary of all cameras and their details for quick reference.

3. Examples of Good and Bad Installations

Good Installations

  • Correct Angle and Placement: The camera is mounted at the appropriate height and angle, providing a clear view of visitors without obstructions.
  • Unobstructed Field of View: There are no objects like shelves, signs, or pillars blocking the camera's view.

Bad Installations

  • Obstructed Views: The camera's field of view is blocked by objects such as shelves, pillars, or hanging signs.
  • Deviation from 3D Drawing: The camera is not installed as specified, leading to inaccurate data.

4. Connection of the Cameras

There are three ways to connect the camera. The method specified in your order should be followed.

A) Connection with Mobile Router with SIM

  • Preparations
    • The router is pre-configured to our cloud service.

  • Steps for Connection
    1. Mount the camera at the designated location as per the 3D drawing.
    2. Connect a PoE cable from the camera to the supplied switch.
    3. Connect the switch to the router.
    4. Plug in the switch and router to a power outlet.

  • Placement of the Router
    • Place the router where there is good mobile coverage (avoid basements).
    • Tip: Use a mobile phone to check signal strength (number of bars).

  • Conditions for Installation
    • Easy installation since the router can be placed near the camera and has its own internet (4G), minimizing the need for long cables.

B) Connection with Mobile Router to Existing Internet

  • Preparations
    • The router is pre-configured to our cloud service.

  • Steps for Connection
    1. Mount the camera as per the 3D drawing.
    2. Connect a PoE cable to the supplied switch.
    3. Connect the switch to the router.
    4. Connect the router to an existing internet outlet.
    5. Plug in the switch and router to a power outlet.

  • Checking the Internet Outlet
    • Test the outlet by connecting a computer, turning off WiFi, and verifying internet access.

C) Connection to Existing Router

  • Preparations
    • Connection to our cloud service is via a VPN configured by the customer's IT team. The setup for the VPN tunnel is specified here.

  • Steps for Connection
    1. Mount the camera as per the 3D drawing.
    2. Run a PoE cable to the existing router or switch.
    3. Connect the camera to an existing internet outlet or directly to the router/switch.

  • Verifying Internet Access
    • Ensure the internet outlet is active by connecting a computer, disabling WiFi, and checking for internet connectivity.

5. Step-by-Step Guide: Connecting Camera with Teltonika Router

Equipment Needed

  • Teltonika RUT241 router (included).
  • Camera with RJ45 connection (included).
  • PoE switch for power supply and data traffic (included).
  • C13 power cable for the PoE switch (included).
  • Network cables (Ethernet cables, RJ45)

Connection of Cables

  • Connect the camera to the PoE switch using a network cable.
  • Connect the PoE switch to the Teltonika router with a network cable.
  • Plug in the PoE switch using the C13 power cable.
  • Place the router in an area with good mobile coverage.

6. Ensuring the Camera Angle

To ensure the camera is correctly angled, use one of the following options to check the camera's view.

Important Note: If you install Provision cameras, please use this guide.

  1. Log in to the VMS (Video Management System).
  2. Access the camera via a web browser.
  3. Use the mobile app "Provision Cam 2":
    • Download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
    • Log in to the camera through the app.
    • Adjust the camera's angle as needed, ensuring it matches the field of view specified in the 3D drawing.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The CCTV mode on the switch must be TURNED OFF
The CCTV mode is intended for camera installations with very long cable distances and reduces bandwidth to compensate for this. If this mode is activated at normal distances, it can cause intermittent issues with the video stream, such as delays or interruptions.

  • Action: Always ensure that the CCTV mode on the switch is TURNED OFF before completing the installation to ensure stable and reliable operation for the customer.

7. Verification of Installation – After Completion

After the installation is complete:

  1. Connect to the camera and take an image of the camera's view.
  2. Send the image to us for verification:
    • Email: onboarding@indivd.com
    • SMS: +46 73 840 65 27
  3. Wait for confirmation from us that the camera's placement is correct.

10. Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do the cameras need to be recorded on a Network Video Recorder (NVR) for the system to work

  • Answer: An NVR is only necessary in two cases:
    • Analog Cameras: If you are using analog cameras and need to convert the image to digital.
    • Security Recording: If you intend to use the cameras for security purposes and need to record the video stream for later review.
