This article shows you how to take the two photos Indivd needs for every camera before installation. After reading it you will be able to photograph a camera position, mark it, and send it for approval.

What to send
Two photos per camera. Always in this order, always with these titles.

Step 1: Choose the camera position
Before you take any photo, check the position against these four rules.

Obstacles: check for lights, signs, hanging displays and door leaves that can swing into view. Ask staff if anything moves during the day.
Step 2: Take the Mounting location photo
To take the Mounting location photo:
- Stand where both the mount point and the whole entrance are in the frame.
- Keep the fixing surface fully visible. Do not cut the mount point off at the edge of the photo.
- Ask a colleague to stand at the base of the mount point. This gives scale.
- Take the photo in landscape.
Note: The person in the photo is for scale only. The mount point is marked with a ring in Step 4, not by pointing.
Step 3: Take the Approximated view photo
This photo shows what the camera will see. It is only useful if it is taken from where the camera will be.
To take the Approximated view photo:
- Stand directly under the mount point.
- Raise the phone as high as you can. Use a pole or a ladder if you have one.
- Tilt the phone down towards the entrance, the way the camera will point.
- Keep the whole entrance opening in the frame, from floor to the top of the door.
- Take the photo in landscape.
Note: A photo taken at eye level from the middle of the walkway is not an approximated view. It shows the wrong angle and the wrong distance.
Step 4: Mark the photos
Use one colour for all markings. Use the phone's built-in markup tool.

Note: Draw the measurement line across the opening only. Do not extend it across glass walls next to the door.
Step 5: Send and wait for approval
- Name each photo with the store name and camera number, for example Parfois cam 1 mounting and Parfois cam 1 view.
- Send all photos to onboarding@indivd.com.
- Wait for approval before ordering or installing anything.
Use cases
Each pair below shows a situation you are likely to meet. The marking rules are the same in all of them.
Outdoor arcade, entrance along the facade
The camera sits on the canopy beam above the walkway, a few metres along the facade from the door. The measurement line runs across the door threshold.
Corner store with two entrances
One camera on the corner covers both doors. Draw one measurement line per door in both photos, and one arrow per line in the mounting location photo.
Building entrance with high ceiling
The camera sits high on a wall or column facing the doors. One measurement line covers the revolving door and the side doors together.
Mall interior, standard store entrance
The camera sits in the mall ceiling outside the store, angled towards the opening. The measurement line runs across the opening between the shopfront frames.
Entrance with floor markings
Floor graphics do not matter to the camera. Draw the measurement line across the full opening, in line with the door frame.
Mall interior, wide glazed frontage
Only the opening counts. Draw the measurement line across the door opening, not across the glass on either side.
Checklist before you send
- Two photos per camera, titled Mounting location and Approximated view
- Mount point fully in frame with the fixing surface visible
- Approximated view taken from under the mount point, phone raised and tilted
- Ring, arrow and dashed line drawn in one colour
- Measurement line drawn in both photos, across the opening only
- Mount height, distance to line and line length written on the mounting photo
- Store name and camera number in the file names
