How to install cameras for entrances – Indivd

Step 1 — Check the box

Check your order. Your connection method determines what is in the box.

A) Mobile router + SIM	Camera + junction box, PoE switch, Teltonika router + power cable + short network cable, SIM card
B) Mobile router + existing internet	Camera + junction box, PoE switch, Teltonika router + power cable + short network cable
C) Existing router	Camera + junction box, PoE switch

Step 2 — Mount the camera

Before drilling, check all four things below.

What to check	✅ Do this	❌ Not this
Distance	3-4 m from the door (max 7 m)	More than 7 m away
Height	At least 80% of ceiling height 2.5 m ceiling → min 2 m 4 m ceiling → min 3.2 m	Too low — people block each other
Angle	20°–60°, angled towards the door	Under 30°, horizontal, or straight ahead
Position	Wall or ceiling mount with a clear side view of the entrance	⛔ Directly overhead pointing straight down — this is NOT a 3D peope counter

Standard doors: angle towards the side where the door opens, so the door does not swing into the camera's view.

Obstacles: check for ceiling lights, signs, hanging displays. Ask staff if anything moves during the day.

Step 3 — Connect

Use the method that matches your order (A, B, or C).

A) Mobile router + SIM

Router is pre-configured. No extra setup needed.

Camera → PoE switch (network cable)
PoE switch → Teltonika router (network cable)
Power → switch and router
Place router near entrance or a window. Check signal with your phone first.

B) Mobile router + existing internet

Router is pre-configured. Test the outlet before starting.

Plug a laptop into the outlet, turn WiFi off, confirm internet works
Camera → PoE switch (network cable)
PoE switch → Teltonika router (network cable)
Teltonika router → internet outlet (network cable)
Power → switch and router

C) Existing router

VPN must be set up by the customer's IT team first. Settings: VPN tunnel setup.

Plug a laptop into the outlet, confirm internet works
Camera → PoE switch (network cable)
PoE switch → existing router or switch

⚠️ Before finishing: CCTV mode on the switch must be OFF. If it is ON, the video will drop out.

Step 4 — Check the camera angle

Note: Installing Provision cameras? Use this guide instead.

Pick one:

Log in to the VMS
Access the camera via a web browser
Provision Cam 2 app (App Store / Google Play) → log in → adjust angle to match the 3D drawing

Step 5 — Send photos and wait for confirmation

Do not leave until you get confirmation from Indivd.

Using a mobile router? Also take a photo of the back of the router

Do I need a Network Video Recorder (NVR)?

No — unless you have an analog camera (needs digital conversion) or want to record footage for security purposes.
